Teens enjoy self-care day in Bridgewater
by Brighton Council

Connected Beginnings Lutruwita invited a group of local teen girls from across the Kutalayna community to join in for a High-Tea and Self-Care Day, designed to celebrate the theme ‘Maximise Love, Manage Stress,’ which offered young teens a chance to relax, learn about self-care, and connect with community.
The teens joined in at Material Institute Lutruwita/ Tasmania in Eddington Street, Bridgewater and began the day with a visit and inspiring talk from Holly-Lace Ayton who encouraged the girls to ‘dream big’ and reminded them that self-care and teamwork go hand in hand with achieving their goals.

Holly-Lace is now the technical director of Taroona Football Club and kit manager for the Australian women’s national soccer team, the Matildas. Holly-Lace’s words set a powerful tone for the day, inspiring many of the girls to reflect on their own futures and the importance of selfcare.

With fun activities including a natural cosmetic workshop hosted in Material Institute’s Beauty Lab by Bodie, flower arranging and a delicious high-tea prepared by Material Institute’s chef, Vlad, it was the perfect opportunity for the girls to sit together, share stories, list their dreams for the future, and connect over food in a relaxed setting. Thank you to all who came and shared how they too can ‘Maximise Love and Manage Stress’ in healthy ways to establish strong, positive relationships within their communities.
