Responsible dog ownership reminder

by Brighton Council

With annual dog registration renewals arriving soon, Brighton Council is reminding residents to ensure their dog registrations are up to date. Registration is required for all dogs over six months of age and plays an important role in helping lost pets return home quickly.

Council also encourages owners to check that their dog’s microchip and contact details are current. Responsible dog ownership includes keeping dogs securely contained, under effective control in public places, and cleaning up after them when out in the community.

Authorised Officers conduct registration checks throughout the year and penalties may apply for unregistered dogs.
