On 29 July, community members joined The Derwent Catchment Project, Brighton Council and Connected Beginnings Lutruwita at Green Point Reserve for a day of planting and restoration.

Despite the chilly weather, everyone got stuck in, planting native species to help restore habitat and strengthen the landscape for people and wildlife. The day was also a great opportunity to connect with others who care about the reserve and its future.

The day included a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony led by Linton Burgess. It was a meaningful opportunity to learn more about the cultural significance of Green Point and the importance of caring for Country.

Tree planting can sometimes seem like a small act, but each plant is part of a much bigger picture. As these native plants grow, they will provide habitat and food for wildlife, help improve the health and resilience of the landscape, and make a more enjoyable place for the local community.

A big thank you to everyone who came along, got their hands in the soil and helped make the day a success.
