Easy Apple Cake Dessert

Add berries to create a colourful variation

Ingredients

  • 1 large tin of pie apple (or any tinned fruit)
  • 1 vanilla or butter packet cake mix + any ingredients listed on the pack

Method

Preheat your oven to whatever the cake mix instructions say (usually about 180 degrees celsius). Grease a cake tin or medium sized baking dish. Drain your fruit slightly if it’s syrupy then spread across the bottom of the dish. Make your packet cake according to the instructions. Spread the cake batter carefully across the fruit and make sure it’s evenly spread. Bake for about 30-40 minutes, or until an inserted skewer or knife comes out clean. Serve with cream, ice cream or custard.

NOTES: You can use any tinned fruit. You can also add frozen berries to the apple. Try adding a dusting of cinnamon.
