Brighton Council has recognised local volunteers and community groups through its 2026 Community Volunteer Awards, held as part of National Volunteer Week in May.

Under One Rainbow took out Community Event of the Year for its annual Christmas Family Fun Day in Gagebrook, which brought together more than 500 people for a day of food hampers, toys, family activities and a movie night.

Young Volunteer of the Year was jointly awarded to Jack Triffitt and Olivia Ims. Jack was recognised for his advocacy through the Brighton Youth Action Group (BYAG), which helped achieve the reinstatement of local school bus services. Olivia was recognised for her volunteer work with Brighton Bowls & Community Club and Meals on Wheels Tasmania, including raising funds through recycling initiatives to support vulnerable community members.

Community Volunteer of the Year went to Rosina Engler, a current member of Café Connections who has spent many years supporting community groups, events and initiatives across Brighton.

Brighton Council congratulated all 2026 award recipients and nominees, and thanked the volunteers who contribute to the community.
