Australia Day Award nominations now open
by Brighton Council
Do you know someone who is making a difference in Brighton? Perhaps a dedicated teacher, sporting coach, volunteer or fundraiser? Someone who gives back to our community in big or small ways?
You can shine a light on their efforts by nominating them for the upcoming Australia Day Awards. There are four categories: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen Award (up to 25 years of age), Community Event of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
To nominate, you’ll just need to describe the contributions made by the person and include their name, address and date of birth. Nominees must be Australian citizens and live in the Brighton municipality.
Nominations close 13 January, 2023 and can be submitted online at brighton.tas.gov.au/community, or via post to the Brighton Council Offices. Alternatively you can email admin@brighton.tas.gov.au.
The Australia Day Awards ceremony will be held on 26 January, 2023 at the Brighton Civic Centre. There will be a community BBQ open to everyone, as well as a citizenship ceremony to welcome new Australians.
