AIDA Tasmania celebrates culture, community and connection
by Brighton Council

AIDA Tasmania has enjoyed a busy and uplifting few months, bringing people together through cultural celebration, community generosity, and the energy of Indonesian martial arts. From Eid Al-Adha celebrations to a Bruny Island fundraiser and a national training program, the organisation has continued to share culture and strengthen connections across the community.
In late May, AIDA Tasmania marked Eid Al-Adha with morning prayer and a shared community breakfast. The Eid Al-Adha festival celebrates peace, respect, giving and receiving. In the spirit of giving, members of AIDA Tasmania delivered gift bags of chocolates to local organisations in the Brighton municipality.
AIDA Tasmania was also proud to take part in the Indonesian Long Table Dinner on Bruny Island. The sold-out fundraising event welcomed guests for an evening of Indonesian food, culture and connection, while raising funds for a safe bike track and outdoor classroom for Bruny Island children. AIDA Tasmania members performed a traditional Indonesian martial arts demonstration, adding colour, movement and cultural pride to the celebration.
AIDA Tasmania then hosted a Train the Trainer martial arts program in June, which attracted participants from across Australia and New Zealand.
Through celebration, service, performance and training, AIDA Tasmania continues to build friendship, promote cultural understanding, and create a welcoming space for community connection.
