Know your flatheads

by Brighton Council

Did you know that Tiger Flathead (sometimes called king flathead) is a sustainable species? Easily identified by their big teeth, orange-brown body and tail free of dark spots or smudges, if you’re fishing in deeper waters (usually 20m+), these fish make a great catch to bring home instead of our depleted Sand Flathead. Tiger and Sand Flathead have different rules, so you should double check which fish you’ve reeled in. You can download the Fishing Tas app at fishing.tas.gov.au/fishing-tas-app.
