The crew in action

What a year it’s been for the MoCo Dragons! 2026 has seen the club making some serious waves at statewide regattas and becoming a competitive force.

Three of the club’s paddlers, Robert Brockman, Jacki Sward and Jody Robertson, were selected to represent Tasmania at the 2026 Australian Dragon Boat Championships at Lake Kawana, Queensland. They took to the water with determination, teamwork and plenty of that unmistakable MoCo spirit, proudly representing Tasmania and showing just what can happen when a great bunch of people paddle together.

Based at the Montrose Bay Sailing Club, MoCo Dragons is a community-driven dragon boat club where competition and camaraderie go hand in hand. You don’t need to be an elite athlete to join, and you don’t even need to know how to paddle!

The crew includes competitive paddlers chasing their next challenge, social paddlers looking to stay active, and people who simply want to get out on the water, meet new people and have a great time.

Dragon boating is all about fitness, teamwork, confidence, friendship and fun, and MoCo believe the best part of the sport is the people you share the boat with. MoCo offers a free four-week trial, with all the equipment you need provided.

With the State Championships at New Norfolk in March, followed by the 2027 Australian Club Championships at West Lakes, Adelaide, in April, the MoCo Dragons are already setting their sights on the next big adventure.
