Community feedback shapes cat plan
by Brighton Council
The Tasmanian Government recently completed public consultation on its Cat Management in Tasmania Discussion Paper. The paper sought community feedback on current cat laws, key challenges and future policy options for managing domestic, stray and feral cats.
Led by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas), the consultation explored issues including microchipping, desexing, cat containment, stray cat feeding and feral cat management, with community responses set to help inform the state’s next Tasmanian Cat Management Plan.
