Young PCYC stalwart’s efforts gain recognition

SAMANTHA Andrews, who was recently presented with the young citizen of the year award by Brighton Council, was proudly nominated for the award by one of her gym members.

Samantha is in Year 12 at Claremont College and was presented her award for her efforts in initiating, planning, organising and conducting gym sessions for women only at the PCYC at Bridgewater.

Sam is currently studying a VET Certificate 2 course in sport and recreation, athlete development, maths and English applied. She completed certificate 1 in 2008 and was employed by the Australian Coaching Council to run sports activities at Herdsman’s Cove Primary School.

Sam is also working towards her Duke of Edinburgh Award. She was an integral member of the college women’s basketball team in 2008 and plans to become a qualified personal trainer. To top this off, Sam has just been successful in gaining her provisional licence. Certainly seems that nothing is stopping her!
