A CELEBRATION of the Co-Pilots mentoring program was held at Bridgewater High in June.
The program has enabled students from grade 4 to grade 11 to be matched with trained volunteer adults for one-on-one tutoring in areas of special interest.
Heather Butler, Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier, said the mentoring program made a difference in the life of students.
“This program is a shining example of what great things can happen when communities really work together,” Ms Butler said.
“I acknowledge the contribution of Bridgewater High School leading the program through its coordinator, Eve Mills. Eve works tirelessly across the Federation to ensure the program is successful.”
Greens leader Nick McKim was one of this year’s mentors. Bridgewater High grade 9 student David Foale worked with him on preparing a speech that Mr McKim plans to deliver in August.
Ms Butler said funding for the program would continue next financial year.
So far over 75 students have taken part in the program.
