Old Beach cricketers warm up for 2011-12 season

OLD Beach cricket club recently held its annual general meeting (AGM) during which Mark Little was reappointed captain/coach for the upcoming 2011-12 season.

Mark will present his revised training plans to the club’s players on August 28 at 1pm at the Old Beach cricket club. All past and present players are invited to attend the meet and listen to Mark present his plans to lift the club back into finals contention for the forthcoming season. The presentation will be followed by a group training run.

Old Beach cricket club is the only state cricket club that represents the Brighton Municipality in the Kookaburra Southern Cricket Association, and this year, will be again fielding four teams. At present, the ground is undergoing a major redevelopment and expansion process owing to a recent council initiative to increase the dimensions of the playing surface.

Currently, the club is looking to hire an assistant coach to assist Mark with the upcoming season. Any individual interested in applying for the position is asked to contact the club’s vice president Michael Cordwell on 0400 616 170 or Mark Little on 0438 845 036.

Michael and Mark are also more than willing to receive calls of interest from past, new and/or intending players in regard to the upcoming season.

Old Beach cricket cub is extremely proactive in providing an inclusive ‘family friendly’ environment that makes all players, their extended families and friends feel welcome, involved and at home. Over the years the club has held a family Christmas party, a ‘wives and partners day’, and a ‘sponsors day’ to show its appreciation to all sponsors of the club.

All members of the community are invited to come along and support the cricket players in their endeavours this season. Yearly membership is available to all at a cost of $5 per adult. Children under the age of 16 are free.
