Local futsal talent kicks a heap of goals

RECENTLY two local boys from our very own community represented Tasmania at the Australian Futsal Association Nationals held in Sydney NSW, from January 11-14.

Young Brady Watson (16 goals/ striker) and Jake French (goalie) managed to help steer our under-15 State team to a respectable fifth place overall, with the side winning three games, losing two and having a drawn game at the duration of the tournament.

The lads both attend JRLF Senior School and have been a part of our Bridgewater PCYC futsal teams for quite some time now where their talents have been made aware from local selectors and Tasmanian development manger Romeo Frediani from Futsal Tasmania.

Our PCYC futsal team participate in Futsal Tasmania’s Division 1 under-16 roster played on Wednesday nights, and have done for a few years now as our PCYC is lucky enough to have great ties with both Romeo and Raelene from Futsal Tas. Our under-16 team is coached and transported by the PCYC and our teams have had success in recent times with a win in a State School’s title back in 2014 and runners up in 2013. This makes it three Tasmanian selections from youth from our local community in just two years, as our teams have been fortunate to participate in the rosters and local tournaments with all costs covered by the Bridgewater PCYC.

The Bridgewater PCYC staff would like to congratulate both boys for their well deserved efforts of late, especially with the news that both Brady and Jake were also selected to represent Australia in Greece in October on an international tour, with both boys and their families having to PASS on this unique opportunity due to the costs involved.
