Learning centre receives major funding for new fit out

A BRIDGEWATER early learning centre development fitout has been given the go ahead with funding from a Federal Government initiative to create jobs and investment.

Federal Member for Lyons Eric Hutchinson said the Tasmanian Jobs and Investment Fund package was designed to stimulate local economies and create employment.“Discovery Early Learning Centres in Gunn St will receive $400,000 from the jobs and investment fund for the $1.3 million project,” he said.

“This will see the construction and fit out of an early learning facility at Bridgewater and will create 13 new jobs.”

Mr Hutchinson said the $24 million fund is expected to generate nearly 800 new jobs throughout Tasmania and provide almost $100 million in investment for our state.

The 56 projects funded are from a diverse range of businesses and showcase the innovation and optimism that characterises Tasmania.

Nearly 150 applications were received from around the state as part of the highly competitive application process.

“This demonstrates that Tasmanian businesses are confident, they’re looking to invest and expand and it’s the Liberal Government which is here to support them,” Mr Hutchinson said.

“We are doing so through funding like this, cutting business taxes and opening up doors to major export markets.

“There are 17 successful applications from Lyons, which will generate 245 jobs in the regional Tasmanian electorate.”

These funds will begin flowing as soon as contracts allow and are part of the Turnbull Liberal Government’s commitment to jobs and growth.
