THE site master plan for the new $50 million Brighton High School has been released for public comment as part of the Tasmanian Government’s plan to improve education outcomes.

An architectural consortium led by local firm Jaws Architects has developed the master plan for the new high school at 1 Elderslie Road following extensive consultation with educators, students from nearby primary schools, and the broader Brighton community.

The new high school will include a gymnasium and performing arts space, as well as onsite sporting facilities which can be used by the local community outside school hours

The master plan positions the school in a way that maximises sunlight and takes advantage of the site’s location flowing towards the Jordan River and Kunanyi/Mount Wellington.

The master plan concept was presented to the Brighton High School Community Reference Group for review and feedback on last month.

The new high school will include a gymnasium and performing arts space, as well as onsite sporting facilities which can be used by the local community outside school hours.

The site at Elderslie Road is large enough to accommodate a new primary school should it be required into the future and this has been factored into the master plan

Construction of the new high school is expected to begin in 2023 and be completed ready for school operations in 2025.

The project is part of the Tasmanian Government’s investment in new education infrastructure, providing contemporary learning facilities to help learners thrive.
