Footy club looks forward to 2016 season

THE Brighton Robins are welcoming everyone to the 2016 Southern Football League season.

It’s been a busy off season in the Robins Nest as we look to continue the improvement shown by the club over the past few seasons.  This year we welcome several new faces to the club’s committee: president, Peter Spotswood; vice president, Phil Dodge; secretary,  Leesa Shaw; function coordinator, Leanne Spotswood. We also have many familiar faces returning for another year: vice president, Chris Goodluck; treasurer, Garry Arnold; committee members,Bronwyn Young and Brendan Parker

Over the past few months the club has hosted many events, weddings, birthdays and school functions.  If you are looking for a venue in the Brighton area, contact us and talk to our friendly staff about what we can do for you.

This season has also seen the introduction of Thursday night meals, come down and support the club and take up the offer of our great value $10 meals.

This year the club appointed Matt Shaw as our senior coach to take the reins from Jamie Ling. We thank Jamie for his great work over the past three years.  Matt brings experience and skills he has gained from roles in the TSL with Glenorchy and Clarence over the past six years.

The club has appointed Adam Whitford as our reserves coach, and with Matt Martin staying on in a playing role are looking to go one step further in 2016.  We are also glad to announce Sam Coetzee will continue the great work he did as coach of the under 18s last season.  We wish all of our coaches the best of luck for the upcoming season.

This season has also seen the arrival of several new recruits. Clarence, Luke Adams and Bradleigh Shaw; Glenorchy, Chris Blackaby, Jamie Davie, Dylan Grant, Jacob Lincoln, Chris McKnight, Scott Plummer and Shaun Stewart; New Norfolk, Sean Fenton and Josh Whitford; Claremont, Wade Booth; Northern Territory, Cody Dransfield.

It is good to see all of these players wanting to join the Robins and wish them the best for their first season with us.
