Cricket starts with a blast for Eagles cricket club

MILO T20 ‘blast’ hits Pontville, starting on Wednesday October 25, from 4.30 to 6pm. Brighton Eagles Cricket club hosts the increasingly popular T20 blast for kids aged 7 – 12 years old. It is played in a fun and safe environment for children who have basic cricket skills. Games last up to 90 minutes with all equipment supplied, including soft balls. The events are facilitated by accredited coaches. This eight-week program has an exciting atmosphere complete with music and dancing just like the KFC big bash league. All children get to bat, bowl and field and all games are played at Pontville. Mixed teams are also available and we are inclusive of children with a disability.

We are also hosting Milo-in-2 cricket on Wednesday October 25, from 3.30 to 4.30pm for five to eight-year-olds, both boys and girls. This program develops fundamental movement skills and develops team values. All equipment is supplied, including a soft ball. Sessions last up to 60 minutes and are inclusive for all skill levels. To register or find out more visit or alternatively contact Trent Arnold 0428 999 313. All children receive a bonus player pack when they register.

Our under-13s have recruited well under the guidance of Alex Clark and are in a great position. Don’t forget to come on October 22 for the start. Training begins weekdays from October 4, from 4.30 to 6pm in the Pontville nets.

Pete Ardener has a lot to look forward as under-15 coach. He has picked up a host of quality recruits and as a result, Pete is confident the boys can go all the way this season. Under-15s also begin training on Wednesday October 4 from 4.30 to 6pm.

Please note it is not too late to register your kids for any of the above.  We are happy to make more teams available if required. The costs for our under-13 and under-15 are capped at $50 for uniforms.

The Brighton Eagles will also cater for children 14 to 18-years- old through our 8th grade affiliation in the Kookaburra Southern Cricket Association (KSCA). This will be a mix of children and more experienced players. Eighth grade is an ideal pathway for kids looking to play in higher grades. It is competitive but yet allows all players to have an opportunity to have a bat, bowl, and field.

Our seniors are also excited by what lies ahead for the upcoming season.  Club coaches, Jason Dawes, Baz Davenport, and Albie Arnold welcome some quality recruits in Adam Daft, Jy Sullivan, Nathan Terry, along with a host of other quality players who have been attracted to the club. Training is held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5.30pm beginning on October 4 as this newspaper goes to press. Our season starts on November 14 in the KSCA T20 series.
