Co-pilots mentors needed to develop students’ skills

ARE you keen to make a difference in students’ lives?

Co-Pilots is a community-based mentoring program designed to encourage young people to develop skills and confidence and find new pathways to learning and work.

It links each young person between the ages of nine to 18 with an adult volunteer and focuses on activities of benefit to the community. Activities target artistic, environmental, public safety, sport and leisure, entertainment and health areas.

Mentors complete 18 hours of certified training in voluntary community work before working with the students.

Now in its fifth year this highly successful mentoring program creates an opportunity for students and mentors to work and learn together and share outcomes with others in the community.
You would be paired with students from Bridgewater High, East Derwent, Herdsmans Cove and Gagebrook Primary Schools. Training starts in February 2010.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor please contact Eve Mills, Bridgewater High on 6262 5500.
