Brighton brothers on track for success

Brothers Josh and Michael Mason are two talented young men from the Brighton community who look set to go far. Both excel in athletics and are valued members of Claremont College.

Assistant principal of Claremont College, John Dalco said he believed both boys had a bright future. “At high school Michael was the school track champion, and Josh was the field champion and runner up track champion,” Mr Dalco said.

Josh has competed at both state and national levels and in 2008 was nominated for the prestigious Pierre de Coubertin Sportsmanship award. He went on to captain the northern suburbs athletics team where he achieved the highest points score in the southern region.

Michael, who has had to adjust his sporting goals after recent injuries, also has a love of performance and was assistant stage manager for the Claremont College’s performance of Buddy in 2008.

“I really enjoy the range of subjects, independence and opportunities in stage and theatre at the college,” Michael said.

The brothers have taken to their college studies with the same enthusiasm they show in all their endeavours. Both plan go on to University, Michael to study media or writing and Josh hopes to study sports science and human movement.

With their commitment to balancing their study, sport and social life Josh and Michael look set to have bright futures.
