Bojana cooks up Croatian storm

EARLIER this year tagari lia Child and Family Centre turned into a Croatian experience as families participated in ‘Fabulous Cultures’, a cooking session that introduces families to different cultural culinary experiences. Croatian displays were put up around the kitchen including traditional dress, books, flags, and there were videos showing Croatian scenery playing in the background.

Bojana Gasparovic demonstrates Croatian cooking with Cadel Nettlefold and Bella Daly.

Bojana Gasparovic led the session, showing families how to cook three different Croatian dishes: chicken paprika, rizi bizi (similar to risotto) and fruit dumplings. The children were interested in helping out in the kitchen, so assisted Bojana in stirring the chicken paprika and rolling the fruit dumplings.

The best part of the session was that all participants sat around the table together once had cooking was completed and they enjoyed the dishes together. Bojana spoke to the group about the Croatian culture and gave out handy hints about cooking Croatian dishes.
