An athletic effort for Brighton Primary

APRIL was a fantastic month for Brighton Primary School with the school’s athletes performing brilliantly at the recent southern primary athletics carnivals.

The A team of 65 students competed against seven other southern schools and put in a fantastic late effort to win the carnival from Lauderdale and Howrah Primary Schools.  Students participated in the normal sprint events, field events such as long jump and vortex, and the traditional relay events.

It wasn’t until the last two or three relays that the final results were known and for 2009, Brighton Primary School is the best ‘A’ division team in the south!

The B team also gave its utmost and participated in similar events.  It was narrowly beaten into third place this year, which is a mighty effort considering that the team were the champs of F division in 2008.  Very well done to the students who made up the B team!

As Brighton Community News was going to press, 36 students were taking part in the champions carnival in Hobart.  This is a record number of students for the school and everyone in the Brighton School community congratulates all the champions!

Well done on your school’s achievement in athletics in 2009.
