Max Tonks puts down the first bowl of what promises to be a very positive season.

We invited popular couple Jan and Max Tonks to put down the season’s first official kitty and bowl respectively, after which bowlers enjoyed 10 ends of social bowls, followed by a barbecue lunch

Those present were ale to view progress of the Club’s new barbecue building, which will be officially opened on Sunday, November 20. The construction of this facility was made possible through a pre-election grant from the State Liberal government to assist the Club’s transition to include the community as well as the bowling members and the club  and special thanks the Mark Shelton, MHA, for his assistance.  The provision of furniture and equipment has been assisted with a Federal Liberal government grant through the office of former  member for Lyons, Eric Hutchinson.

The club is anticipating an exciting season on the greens with men’s teams in Saturday Divisions 1, 3, 6 and 7, while the ladies will field teams in Div 1, 3 and 4.

Barefoot Bowls with Lis and her helpers starts again on Wednesday, October 26 and the Club looks forward to the return of last season’s players and new comers as well. The nightly fee covers a  barbecue tea, use of the green and hire of bowls – flat-soled shoes are the only requirement. Helpers are on hand for those who haven’t bowled and unaccompanied bowlers are most welcome.

People interested in trying bowls, or simply joining the Club, should call 6268 1325 or 0417 314 749 or drop in to the Club at 211 Brighton Rd.
