Christian School builds on life learning skills

THE kindergarten classroom at Northern Christian School always has lots of exciting things happening and this year is no exception.

Learning in Kindergarten is based on the Early Years Learning Framework, which describes childhood as a time of belonging, being and becoming.

The Kindergarten class gets into the swing of its music class.

Children feel they belong because of the relationships they have with their family, culture community and place.  Being is about allowing children time to play, try new things and have fun. They then start to form their sense of identity from an early age, which shapes the type of adult they will become.

“I have the best job in the world,” says northern kindergarten teacher Samuel Whittle.  “Children learn so much by experimenting, they learn about planning, creativity, problem solving and team work, and at the same time we all have an enormous amount of fun.”

Northern Christian School is about to begin dance classes for two to five-year-olds.  Classes will be run by professional dance teacher Annette Turvey and begin Friday August 1.  For more details contact the school on 6263 4733.
