Brighton ladies bowled over by back-to-back champsionships

THE Brighton Bowls Club has had another successful year, with its ladies division four winning the Bowls Tasmania south and state championships for a second year in a row.

The men’s division two were also successful in the southern competition and have recently been promoted to division one for the 2011/12 season.

The team triumphantly beat Latrobe in the state championship but were then defeated by a very strong Cressy team.

To celebrate their recent success, the Brighton Bowls Club are holding an open day on Sunday June 19 from 11am and 2pm.

All are warmly invited to come along and try their hand at the sport while enjoying the free sausage sizzle and other activities to be held on site.

Bowls is not only a sport for the elderly but for people of all ages and technique. It provides a chance for people to challenge themselves while enjoying the chance to socialise and meet new people.

Experienced bowlers will be present on the day for guidance and support for participants.

Casual clothes and flat-soled shoes are all that is required for those who attend.

One of the ways the club is fundraising is through a sponsorship drive promoted to various businesses and organisations in the local area. Brighton Bowls is currently seeking funds to assist in future plans to develop and progress the club.

One of the key issues identified is the need to replace the club’s artificial surface, which is expected to cost in the vicinity of $200,000.

There are three sponsorship levels on offer, each with their own benefits – including naming rights to one of the greens, and barefoot bowls rosters. Sponsorship can provide an excellent opportunity for business to advertise and promote themselves within the community.

For more information about sponsorship options contact the Club on 6268 1325.

The Brighton Bowls Club is located at 68 Midlands Highway, Brighton.
