Brighton FC is looking to a very bright 2013

By DARYN HOLMES*

PRE-SEASON began early November with many new and familiar faces eagerly awaiting the first bounce. We are extremely fortunate to have the services of Jamie Ling who is in his first year as a senior coach and pleased that his father, Danny, has also come on board as bench coach.  Jamie and his coaching staff have brought a wealth of experience and professionalism to our club which has the club buzzing. The playing list of experience and youth sees us heading into a new and exciting future, with many local boys sticking with the club who genuinely love playing for the red and the blue. The players have also helped out delivering flyers in the community advertising our club.

The off season has seen the club host many private functions and it was also exciting that the great facilities at Pontville played host to the Australian under-17 cricket championships. Our committee catered for more than 40 cricket players and coaches on three occasions where we were also delighted to have  the respected former Australian Test  Cricket captain, Greg Chappell in our clubrooms.

We welcome our major sponsors so far for 2013 – SRT Logistics, Schweppes, 9/11 Bottleshop, 4one4 Real Estate, Advanced Contracting, Talon Bodyworks, Pete’s Nursery and Landscaping Supplies,  Iris Computing , Midland Truck and Bus, Tas Highland Kitchens, Ozzi Kleen,  Paul and Elizabeth Geard ,Brighton Quality Meats,  IGA Everyday,   Brighton Pizza Plus, Temporary Fence Hire,  and invite other businesses to join our club. The benefits are significant with wonderful opportunities for advertising. We have a variety of membership and sponsorship packages available, why not come along to the clubrooms one Thursday night soon, watch the players train, and talk to one of our committee members about becoming a member of our club. Our season opener is Saturday,  April 6 at home against East Coast. We hope you  take advantage of our free voucher some time during the season and enjoy a day at the footy.

I hope you enjoy this feature about our club and I along with players & committee look forward to seeing you at the Brighton Football Club in 2013, where ‘the future is bright’.
