THE iconic Baskerville Raceway in Old Beach has secured a naming sponsor partnership for the first time in over 30 years, officially making the much-loved track the Pepsi Max Baskerville Raceway.
Working closely with Schweppes Australia, the management body of Baskerville, Motorsports Tasmania, agreed to a five year commercial partnership, granting the company supply rights for both the Baskerville and Symmons Plans Raceway.Motorsports Tasmania chair Peter Killick said the deal was great news for the future prosperity of the raceway.
“We have worked hard to get this deal in place, and we are extremely excited to have such a strong brand involved with our passion for all things motorsport,” Mr Killick said.
“Combined with the newly upgraded control tower courtesy of the Baskerville Foundation, the new retro-inspired Pepsi Max branding has given the raceway a huge lift.
“At future meets you will see various Schweppes promotional material, products and staff. I trust the Tasmanian public will all join me in making them feel welcome.”
Mr Killick said in 2013, the Baskerville Foundation was established with the goal of raising $600,000 to fund vital track restoration and facility upgrades at the raceway.
“To date, the foundation has raised over $400,000 and has already partly finished restoration and upgrade works,” he said.
“The naming sponsor partnership with Schweppes Australia will further the Baskerville Foundation’s goal of restoring the track and completing facility upgrades, to ensure motorsport enthusiasts living in Tasmania will be able to enjoy Baskerville for years to come.”
