THE very successful Breaking the Silence Group recently held a launch of its ‘Hidden’ resource pack at Parliament House.
The event, which was hosted by Speaker of the House of Assembly Elise Archer MHA, was well attended by members and friends of the group along with politicians from all sides of politics.
Elise Archer was full of praise of the group’s activities.
Ms Archer said it was a full house for what she described as an inspiring event hosted by the Breaking the Silence Advocacy Group.
The event was held during the parliamentary break.
“Hidden is an impressive but also devastating collection of visual art, poems and prose that has been developed directly by those with lived experience of family violence,” Ms Archer said.
Breaking the Silence has partnered with Red Cross in Tasmania to make this project a reality, having been founded in 2013 with a focus on ending family violence by advocating community-led prevention strategies, and increasing education and awareness about the issue.
“It was wonderful to see representatives from all sides of politics in attendance, reinforcing that Tasmania’s representatives are truly united in tackling this serious issue in our community.”
