A year of improvements for Brighton Football Club

By DARREN CLARK*

WITH so much happening at the Brighton Football Club it seems a good time to update the community.

It has been a busy few months since taking on the President role in November.

With only a couple of months away from the start of the season, the teams are looking forward to a few practice games to blow out the cobwebs.

Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for more details.

This year, 2020 is certainly headed in the right direction.  We have had more than 70 players sign up to play men’s footy and the women and kids teams are also having a great response.

This year, the new committee is all about improvements,  better governance, more structure, increased inclusiveness with the community and of course a new facility.

There are things happening at every level of the Club and we need your help.

Player registration fees for U19 have been waived to encourage kids to join up and become the next lot of stars for the Robins. If you are sitting at home looking for something to do, come on down and have a chat with us, we are a friendly lot and always look for players or volunteers.

We also need highly skilled trainers to help out.   Are you a retired doctor, nurse, paramedic or qualified sports trainer with a spare minute, we would love to hear from you.

If you have other skills from your days in the board room and would like to be involved, well we could use a hand with updating our policies and procedures.

As the old saying goes many hands make light work.

The new building begins this year and it looks likely we will lose the old clubrooms around July.

It is important we have some successful fundraisers and attract as many sponsors as possible to help cover the period of disruption to our home games.

If you are a business owner looking to have your brand exposed then we will have a package to suit your budget, contact the club and we can send you out our booklet.

Finally, we are planning a Back to Mangalore Day, our Red and Blue Ball and some other great events. I would love to see you there.

So if you think you can help then come on down and say hello, I would be thrilled to introduce myself and tell you all about what we are doing down at the Robins for 2020, and don’t forget to buy a membership.
